Stainless steel 17-4 is a martensitic precipitation-hardening steel
material containing Cu, Nb, with high hardness, high strength. After heating, its
mechanical properties will be better, such as its compression strength will get to 1100-1300 Mpa.
Stainless Steel 17-4 is always used to make parts those need high strength
and hardness. Because of the low carbon content, its corrosion resistance is
better than that of 400 series stainless steel. it’s able to get a variety of different
properties and hardness by changing aging temperature during heat treatment
Moreover, 17-4 has great corrosion resistance in air, Low concentration acid solution, or saline solution, just as stainless steel 304.
Stainless steel 17-4 is always used in aerospace industry, boats, mechanical equipments, etc.
