Powder metallurgy (PM), sometimes referred to as powdered metal sintering, is a process for manufacturing metal parts by heating compacted metal powders just below their melting points. In other words, PM is a metal shaping process that creates near-net parts from powdered metal. Sometimes, the products, manufactured by PM, are known as sintered products. Recently high-speed compression molding has been developed.
It’s Hoganas that introduced high-speed compression molding firstly in 2001. The pressing speed of high-speed compression molding is 500-1000 times of conventional compression molding, which is regarded as a breakthrough in powder metallurgy industry with low cost, high efficient molding, high density.
With the development of high-speed compression molding technology, some of PM parts requiring higher mechanical properties are made by high-speed compression molding.
