The theory of metal injection molding is consistent with plastic injection molding. On the injection process, the mixture would become plastic material with rheological property after been heated in the injection machine cylinder and it would be injected into the mold under a suitable pressure and form the green parts. The micro structure of green parts should be uniform, because only in this way the parts could shrink uniformly on the sintering process.
Debinding: Before sintering,we should release the organic binder in the parts ,but only 98% binder could be released after debinding process. On this process,we should guarantee that the binder is always released from the micro-channel between the particles but does not decline the strength of the green parts.
Sintering: After sintering, the parts would be densified and possess a certain mechanical property.Although many factors exist before sintering process would affect the properties of the parts, sintering process would be the key of excellent mechanical properties of the parts. The control of sintering quality directly affect the mechanical properities of the parts.
Post process: For those parts with higher precision and stricter tolerance requirement, the post process is very necessary, such as CNC machining.
In recent years, for metal injection molding technology, there are 2 main development directions: One is the extension of suitable material system and the innovating of manufacturing equipment.
