Nowadays, stainless steel 304 and 316 are the most widely applied. The biggest difference between them is that 316 contains Mo. Besides, 316 has better corrosion resistance under high temperature. However, 316 can’t be used in concentrated sulfuric acid.
316 contains Mo, which results in great corrosion resistance and strength even under high temperature. It’s could be used in severe environments, such as 1200℃-1300℃.
Normally, 316 is used in sea devices, and production equipments of chemical products, dye, papers, etc.
