Nowadays, powder metallurgy has been recognized as a green and sustainable manufacturing technology. As a near net-shaping processing, powder metallurgy has a high material usage rate. Compared with conventional casting, forging, or machining, powder metallurgy processing requires fewer processes, while making a complex part.
For example, while being used to make gears, conventional machining processing will waste more than 40%. However, the material usage rate is able to get to 95%.
Besides, the parts made by powder metallurgy, could be packed and delivered after sintering, in most circumstance. Therefore there is few pollution in powder metallurgy. On the contrast, cutting and drilling oil, cooling water used in machining will cause serious pollution.
