Metal Injection Molding (MIM) is a near net forming technology which is suitable to produce the components with micro size and three dimensional complex shape and special performance.
Metal Injection Molding (MIM) is developed by the integration of traditional powder metallurgy technology and modern plastic injection molding technology, the basic process is: Firstly, mixing variety of fine metal powder (less than 20μm generally) with preset binder (various thermoplastics, paraffin and other materials) according to a certain proportion evenly, then the feed stock with flowing property can be made;Secondly, the feed stock would into the mold cavity (or multiple mold cavity)by injecting, then the green part can be shaped; Finally,by degreasing and high temperature sintering, various metal components with well-proportioned micro structure and high density can be finished.
Electronics instrument industry is the main application field for MIM technology, covering about 50% sales of MIM components in Asian marketing. The miniaturization of electronic devices demands the component with lower production cost and better performance and smaller size,so MIM component can give full play to its advantage.
