Earphone manufacturers are using metal injection molding to make complex earphone parts to improve the quality of earphones. RHA, a famous earphone manufacturer from England, have launched a flagship type-T10i, the first one with stainless steel body made by metal injection molding.
RHA claimed that MIM was the only processing to achieve stainless steel auricle-shape body of T10i.
After shaping, the parts need to be subjected to heating to remove the binders, and do fine reshaping to achieve beautiful appearance with texture.
The price of T10i is around 200 dollars, and a flagship Hi-Fi earphone could reaches 2500 dollars from Final Audio Design. Metal injection molding is widely used in earphones from Final Audio Design, which improve the quality highly.
In 2014, a set of MIM earphone parts made by ARCMIM company has been awarded in MPIF.
